Martin is a business executive with over 30 years experience in the sports, entertainment and media industries. He commenced his career in 1984 where he spent 5 years in television working for the Seven Network in advertising and marketing sales.
In 1990 Martin was approached to join IMG. In his first role he started the National Sales and Marketing division for IMG before being appointed to the General Manager role for the Melbourne office. In 1997 Martin was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President and Managing Director for IMG Australia and New Zealand.
In 2004 Martin was asked to move to Hong Kong where he took up the role of Senior Vice President and Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region. Martin lead IMG’s business across HK, China, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Thailand.
Martin was instrumental to IMG’s success and contributed to the companies growth across all business units including tennis, golf, arts and entertainment, events and federations, fashion, models, sales and marketing and media.
In 2000 Martin received the Australian sports medal which was awarded by Queen Elizabeth the Second and Prime Minister , John Howard for his achievements in the sports industry. In 2004 Martin was nominated by BRW magazine as the 4th most influential person in Australian sports.
He was the Vice President of the Hawthorn Football Club and a board member (1997- 2004). He has also held board positions with the Kids Helpline ( 1997-2001) and the Alannah and Madeleine Foundation (1998-2002)
In 2015 Martin has founded his own business Sports Media and Entertainment 360- (SME 360) and with his partners and investors will be looking to become a significant force within the industry.
