At the launch of the 2XU Triathlon Series at Elwood yesterday, Executive Director of Triathlon Victoria, Grant Cosgriff was delighted to announce the partnership with SME360 to deliver the Victorian Schools Triathlon Championships on March 4, 2018 as part of a multiyear agreement.
Grant Cosgriff said, “We are delighted to announce our partnership with SME360 which will deliver a championship event for Victorian schools and importantly invest in the future of triathlon participation. With SME360’s history and professionalism, we look forward to creating an event of national significance and the ‘nursery’ of our future champions”
This event will be held in conjunction with SME360’s existing marquee event, The Melbourne Corporate Triathlon, which gives terrific opportunity for shared resourcing and a great platform to profile triathlon. Combining these two very different events, will bring an estimated 6000 competitors to the ‘starting line’ which will not only create a fantastic spectacle for all participants, but it will also increase the prospect of additional commercial partnerships supporting triathlon events.
CEO of SME360, Martin Jolly said ‘We are delighted to announce this partnership with Triathlon Victoria and whilst we continue to grow our event portfolio, triathlon is a major part of our focus and we are proud to join forces to ensure the continued development and growth of the sport. On top of this we get to provide the opportunity for more school aged children to enter triathlon and take on the challenge of multisport.
In addition, SME360 have been awarded the rights to host the 2018 Victorian Sprint Triathlon State Championships at the iconic Portarlington venue. With over 30 years of history the venue delivers a ‘must do’ race for every Victorian triathlete.
